Monday afternoon saw me take on my biggest ever beach clean after a boat sadly got caught in the recent storms and was destroyed. The scariest thing was finding pieces of wood with nails in them completely hidden in the seaweed and so I took to unravelling every clump of seaweed along the beach to make sure that there weren't anymore hidden to cause injury. I found everything from clothes to gloves, towels hidden underneath the sand which I pulled out from in front of The Mowlem, to large bin bags, toys and of course more plastic.
I found it really hard as I met the couple when the accident first happened and to find their clothes and so many boat bits was heartbreaking. They literally lost everything, something that I can well relate to. I also found a baby cuttlefish hidden in the marine weed as well.
A huge well done to everyone who helped in some way to clear up the beach, it has been lovely to meet so many people who care about our seas.
